Quebec City, October 7, 2024 – De Marque, a global leader in digital reading and distribution technology, is proud to announce its partnership with the City of Buenos Aires for the launch of the Jorge Luis Borges Digital Public Library, the city’s first public digital library powered by the company’s Cantook Libraries platform. Named after the Argentinian literary master, this innovative platform will expand access to books and knowledge, offering an engaging and dynamic reading experience for residents.
The library currently boasts a collection of 1,000 titles, ranging from new releases to timeless classics, with plans to steadily grow its offerings. With 30,000 registered members in Buenos Aires’ public library network, the platform allows readers to borrow titles for up to 30 days, with each title accessible to 30 users simultaneously.
At the launch event, Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri highlighted the significance of the library’s namesake. “Jorge Luis Borges is a towering figure in both Argentine and world literature, and it’s fitting that this innovative digital space carries his name. As Borges once said, ‘I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.’ Today, we’re proud to offer a digital paradise of knowledge for our citizens.”
